I have the best job in the whole world. Every morning I get to create a world of endless possibilities. I can become overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task, the millions of moving parts in a school, and the honor that I have to lead an amazing team of teachers.
Before “Open House”, I walked the building checking on teachers. I was impressed by warm, welcoming, creative, purposeful, and nurturing places that each created for our children. I found myself with tears in my eyes, a lump in my throat, and I was humbled by the heart and soul poured out by each one of them. Williams is a great place for kids.
It’s exciting to start a new school year. Everyone is full of hope, innocence, and expectations. I am not so naïve to believe that it will be perfect like this all year. I know WE will make mistakes. I know WE will miss an opportunity to reach a child. I know WE will fail to connect with a child who needs us. I know WE will strain a relationship with a family. When WE fail, WE will pick ourselves up, WE will reach out to that child, parent, family, or staff member, WE will learn, and most importantly WE are a world of endless possibilities to do different and better. And WE will. WE are Williams Elementary.
I do have the best job in the whole world.
